Chewing on Snake Tails

Chewing on Snake Tails 600x600

This Muvari saying originated from the rituals of certain shamans who, to impress and gain followers, chew on the tails of snakes, actually ingesting their poison. This sometimes backfires, killing the shaman, but those who live go into a very agitated state, their nervous systems speeding up, stimulated by the poison. For this reason the Muvari refer to those who are agitated, nervous, or worried as ‘chewing on snakes’or ‘chewing on snake tails’.
